Life EV Holdings officially acquired Rad Power Bikes for $13.2M in March 2026 after Rad filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in December 2025 following CPSC battery fire warnings. Life EV will keep the Rad Power Bikes brand running in the US, honor certain warranties/gift cards, and plans to build new bikes domestically while expanding retail and rehiring ∼95% of laid-off staff. The new owner calls it a "rebirth" and aims to restore Rad's former industry dominance with US-based assembly and improved quality control.
My take: Honestly, this could be good news for current owners - US manufacturing + honoring old warranties might finally fix the support issues Rad was having. Cautiously optimistic, but I'll wait to see if they actually deliver on the battery safety and service side.
