I tell my 9 year old, this is cheating. But realistically I have some concerns with safety. It seems this industry took off from 2020, and now you see them everywhere.

Hardcore cyclists sometimes gatekeep the identity, saying e-biking isn’t "real" cycling. Yet, for many, pedal assist keeps them on two wheels when they’d otherwise give it up. Is the debate really about bikes, or about who gets to belong to the cycling tribe?
