E-bikes and temperature impact - 48v17ah - September 11, 2025

How much does temperature affect the range?  I'm guessing the biggest performance hit would be from the battery.  I noticed mine seems to take a small hit when it is slightly colder.  I was wondering if temperature would affect any other components?

Motor
  • The electric motor generates heat when converting electrical energy to mechanical motion.
  • Heat builds up especially during hill climbing, heavy loads, or prolonged high speeds.

Controller
  • The controller manages current flow and speed using and other electronics.
  • These switching components can get quite hot, often requiring heat sinks or thermal pads.

Wiring & Connectors
  • High current draw (especially from motor to controller) causes resistive heating.
  • Poor-quality or undersized connectors can get noticeably hot.

If by performance you mean range then this is correct.  Everything else is minor.
