I see people just leaving their scooters outside stores for a few minutes, unlocked. Are e-scooter thefts common? What’s the best lock setup without making it a pain to carry?
With locks, there is always a trade off. The more secure it is, the heavier it gets. You have to carry it everywhere, probably in your back-pack unless you can find some convenient way to wrap around around the stem. A solid chain + good lock might do. Definitely more options for e-bikes for attachments on where to carry the lock.
A good middle ground between full U-lock and full chain lock is a foldable lock. It can extend less than a chain, but more than the U-lock. Also much lighter than both of these options.
